In Loving Memory

Scarlet
November 6, 1998-October 28, 2008

Our family chocolate lab, Scarlet, that we got my senior year of high school had to be put to sleep yesterday afternoon. She had a stroke about a month ago and her health was deteriorating to the point that she could not walk yesterday and fell down some steps. It was a really tough night last night to hear the news about Scarlet and know that I just missed seeing her by less than 24 hours. I'm home now at my parent's house and there is a definite void. My parent's hearts are breaking because they miss their sweet girl who has been with them for the past 11 years. I keep looking for that big old chocolate lab that liked to lay down while she ate her food. I miss hearing her snore while I watch tv. My parent's have Daisy's older sister Lily and she is so sad looking for her "mama bear." I truly believe your pets are part of your family.

Here is a picture of Scarlet on our boat. She loved to sit in the front and catch the rays.

Here is a picture of when I brought Daisy home when she was a puppy to introduce her to the gang. The other golden is Lily (Daisy's older sis) and Scarlet is the chocolate lab.

We'll miss you girl! I know we'll see you in heaven! Say hello to our other puppies up there and all of our loved ones.

Thank you everyone who prayed for Bonnie yesterday. She is still having contractions, but they have been able to hold off full blown labor. I'm not sure how this works, but I guess they will try to keep her from having the babies as long as possible. She is currently 23 weeks and pregnant with twins (a boy and a girl.) Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Please also keep in your prayers Susanne. I do not know her, but she is 30 weeks pregnant and found out today her baby girl has a genetic disorder called trisomy 13. Only 20% of babies with this disorder survive after they are born. In addition, my old co-worker Mary had breast cancer surgery today. Thanks for all of your prayers!!

I will put your friends on my prayer list. I'm so sorry to hear about Scarlet. My parents have a yellow lab and he's been around 14 years. He is such a big baby and part of our family. I dread the day something like this happens to him, especially for my dad b/c he truly is man's best friend. Have a good weekend and fun at your shower.

I started crying instantly when I read your post. I remember the day our childhood collie had to be put down. I still see my Dad carrying the collar and leash back inside the house and it makes my heart break. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

i just came across your blog and I wanted to let you know I am thinking of your family. I know some people will say "its just a dog" but its not, they are members of the family and I know its hard and feels empty when they are gone. Some don't agree but I know we will see our animals again! Take care!!

I'm so sorry for your parents! Losing a dog is so hard, even if they have lived a great life!!

Have fun at home this weekend. I'm sure you are thrilled to be there. I've been praying for the mom of the 23 wkrs. My best friend was in this position last winter and it was SO hard. They have been through a lot, but are the very proud parents of two healthy happy boys. Prayers do get answered!

Losing a pet is one of the most devastating events for a family. I am extremely saddened to hear about the passing of Scarlett. You and your family are in my thoughts.

I am so sorry about Scarlet ... losing a pet is so hard. I will continue to pray for your friend and her twins. A friend of ours had her water break early and she was on strict bedrest in the hospital until she was further along to deliver her son. I know it's not an easy bedrest (not that any are), but they were able to keep everyone healthy and safe.

I am so sorry to hear that MMM! That's terrible news. I went through the same thing last year. Our family dog, a 17 year old cockapoo, had a stoke and we also had to put him down. Oh it was so sad, and I still miss him. My parents house is so strange without him. But it definitely was for the best. I'm thinking about you!

I haven't commented before, but just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss. We have two Labs and I know how much they become a part of the family. Take care.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, MMM... My parents had to put down my 19 year old doxie last year, and it couldn't have been tougher. You're in my prayers!
