Hi friends. Sorry for the lack of posts. I'm improving each day after my experience on Monday. There is a major police presence in our area right now which gives me mixed feelings, but at least they are working on the case.
It looks like it will be tough for me to blog at work, but it is only my first week so who knows. The new job is going well so far. I worked until 11:00pm last night, but I think that will only be when I have events (I had my first event last night...talk about being thrown into the fire!) The event had already been planned, so I did not have to do much. It was at a great upscale Chinese restaurant called Mr. K's. I highly recommend it!
I went to the JL orientation meeting this week and am planning on joining. It was so nice to look around the room and see such cute girls. Their house is AMAZING and they actually have a bar (well, they call it the Pine Room) that you can bring your friends to have drinks during the week from 5pm-10pm. It reminds me of a fabulous sorority house in the South. And the best part....there were potential friends for me everywhere! I can't wait to get started because, of course, the main purpose is a chance to give back to your community. The city has so many needs for volunteers and I can't wait to get started. I love being involved and that fabulous feeling you get after you spend a Saturday doing something that helps someone!
Daisy is doing well this week. She really likes her dog walker. We get daily reports from her that tell what they did and if she went #1 or #2. How funny is that! She seems really tired when I get home, so I'm glad she is getting exercise and able to socialize with other dogs. There is another golden retriever in our building and they get to walk together. Daisy met her last week and they were instant friends in the elevator. On Daisy's first walk, I'm proud to report that she did a #1 on the sidewalk!!!! Can you believe it? She learned from the other dogs. Now if we can only get her to do it with us. Ok, enough talk about my dog's bathroom habits.
Don't forget to get your 15% off from So Pretty with the code MMM. Also, they have started their own blog http://www.prettypreppymonograms.blogspot.com/. They are having a contest that ends today, so stop over and say hello to the newest preppy blogger!
I'm really excited about my first weekend. Jumping back into the work world really makes you appreciate every spare moment you have. I'm hoping my husband won't have to work all weekend so that we can get some much needed quality time. We plan to go back to the Alabama bar to watch them take on Arkansas this Saturday night. What are you doing this weekend?
I need to work on my work wardrobe again. We have to dress business casual, but I need a few staples. Any suggestions on your favorite work staple?
I did place a few orders last week that came in. I got this bulletin board for our kitchen from Ballard Designs. I ordered two photo albums from the Pink Giraffe for our wedding photos. I also ordered a monogram sticker from Etsy. I'll let you know how it all turns out!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Even though I don't know you, I'm so glad you're joining the NYJL! I joined last spring and have met the cutest, nicest people already. Hopefully we'll bump into each other at the Pine Room!
Hi!! I moved to NYC a year ago from TX so I feel your pain/excitement! I'm also planning my wedding from out of state - I have 30 something days left! I'm going to check out the NYJL. I LOVE that you posted about college football - my Fiance and I find it SO WEIRD that people up here could care less about football! We are Texas Longhorn fans though. :-)
I am also a member of the NYJL (and another Beth hehe) and an avid reader of your adventures! My wedding is in a month in Newport, RI, but we should coordinate a pine room get together one night in November or so? Could be so fun!
Oh my goodness! I'm going to the NYJL orientation in October - I'm a little nervous (because it reminds me of Rush) for some silly reason, but also super excited! I was really involved in my sorority so I'm hoping I can do the same with JL :)
To Mrs. Preppy in Pink - I moved from Texas two years ago! I'm a Baylor fan (Sic 'Em!) but cheer for the Longhorns too :)
I just wanted to say Thanks for the 15% off code, my LR has a cute new monogram for the back window on the way!
I am so glad things are working out for you in NY. I am the president of our Junior Women's League (although rest assured... our is MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller than NY's). I love it because it is a chance to meet girls that you wouldn't have normally found as friends. The place where you meet sounds fabulous!!!! I wish we had that. We always end up meeting at my house!
Sounds like you are finding your place in the big city! So excited for you.
Congrats on the new job. My favorite work staple is Brooks Brothers non-iron button-down oxfords. They are pricey, but you save soooo much money on dry cleaning, and they look and feel very nice. I have about 10 of them and wear one almost every day. And the best dress shoes for the money are Bandolino, hands down. The J. Crew cashmere tees are also good with black pants or khakis.
