Funeral Stationery

Yeah, not really a topic I ever thought I would want to talk about. But, who better to ask then you gals? My Mom called me tonight and said "since I was the one with all the stationery connections," could I help her find some of that stationery that says something like, "The family of Mrs. Smith appreciates your love and support during this time..." There are so many people that have sent flowers and gifts and lots of doctors and nurses that need to be thanked that Mom feels it would be easier to have some stationery made. I did a little googling and I found this website. I'm looking for something similar, but more "Crane-esque" to reflect my Grandmother. Has anyone had the unfortunate experience of having to look for this type of thing? Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

I believe that Crane actually has the notes that you are looking for. If I remember correctly they had a cross or a star of david on the front. If you have a paper supply store in your area, I would suggest printing them yourself. I used to have a stationery company and I created them from time to time. A nice quote printed on the front and blank for a signature on the inside is the best.

We had to use this kind of stationary when my grandfather passed away a year ago. My mom found the perfect card. It was a folding card that was an off white color and tiny black trim around the outside. On the front it said the family of so and so has been so touched by your thoughtful words and gifts in honor of our wonderful grandfather. (or something along these lines...) The the inside was blank for our notes.

We had them done at paper source... Really easy and they can customize and it isn't as expensive as Crane's, but the paper stock is of the same quality. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this, but good luck with your search.

Hello! I have been a reader of your blog for about 6 months but have never commented. I, too, am pregnant and expecting my 2nd little girl in 2 weeks (Jan 27th). I lost my mother about 3 months ago to cancer. I had to select the "thank you" cards for her funeral. I found the following poem in a Crane Stationary book and then had it printed on ivory linen stationary from Swoozies. (www.swoozies.com). I got a lot of complements on the card. The poem is:

Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a funeral spray,
if so, we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,
As any friend could say,
Perhaps you were not there at all,
Just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts,
We thank you so very much, whatever the part.

Then we had "The Family of ..." printed at the bottom. I am sorry for your loss and will be wishing you luck with baby J!

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother passing. I miss both of mine terribly. As another commenter mentioned, Crane makes just what you need. They have it in pre-boxed sets and you can "fill in the blank" with her name.

I think having some printed with her name already on there would be quite nice.

I do think that a handwritten note of some sort is a must. I know that there are 100 things to do, but something personal is always so appreciated.

Hope you and your entire family are doing well.

I don't care for the preprinted cards...as a matter of fact, I never send thank you notes for anything that say "Thank You" on the front. I just use my regular monogrammed notecards.

For my grandmother and father, we used printed prayer cards with their favorite saint, and custom printed with their favorite passages and the dates, and included them with the preprinted Crane's cards. I'm not sure everyone does it that way, but in Boston, that's pretty common. I bet any stationary shop could help make something similar, or more tailored to your mother's tastes?

By the way, I'm so sorry for your loss. She seems like she was a wonderful lady and so thoughtful.

For my boyfriend's mother's funeral, they had cards printed through the funeral home. They weren't anything special but perhaps that would be another source for you to look at. Any thank you would be much appreciated and beyond expected during such a time of grief so I'm sure anything you come up with will be touching! Take care of yourself and that wonderful little life you have inside you!

I also think Crane has notes for such an occasion, i would go to a local dealer. Also I have found that Weddingpaperdivas will accomodate other things being written on their wedding stationary. I had a change of address done on a response card, due to my request for something smaller. Perhaps you can find something there or on tinyprints, I know they have baptismal invites with crosses. As pp said up north I believe it is customary to have a patron saint card done however living in the south not all are Catholic so I don't know how others view that. Wish you luck, my thought and prayers are with you.

We just went through this with my father in law. We were lucky since my mother in law is in the wedding stationary business and we were able to order them through southern engraving (used to be out of Birmingham but is now owned by Tatex). I do know that they have very good quality cards and you can make the front read however you would like it. I also know that in my hometown atleast three places carry this line. I bet your mom could order them easily. The notes are of great quality. We ordered the ecru color and used script. Just a thought!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother... One of my close friends actually has her own stationary company and designs custom stationary for every occasion. Her website is ashleybrookedesigns.blogspot.com and I'm sure she'd be able to design something perfect for you. It's all drawn by hand and is beautifully and tastefully made.

Hope this helps!

Go to finestationery.com (it is spelled like that even though stationary is not) and in the top search box, type "funeral". There are lots of options.

They have bereavement cards but I found a few websites that have lots of unique bereavement cards and personalized sympathy thank you cards at:

http://www.cardsshoppe.com/bereavement-cards/
http://www.express-invitations.com/bereavement-cards/
http://www.announcements-shoppe.com/Bereavement-Sympathy-Funeral-Thank-You-Cards/productsList-13-1.htm

I have ordered from all these for my bereavement cards, sympathy thank you cards and condolence cards and been very pleased. Take and look and see what you think.
