Prayers and Thanks!

(image from Noaa)

Please keep all of the people on the Gulf Coast in your prayers this weekend. My parents live full time in the projected cone of Gustav and our new beach house is also in the cone. My Dad has been through a great deal of stress lately and I know this is so hard on him. I have friends in Pensacola, Mobile, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and Baton Rouge so this hurricane has no "good" spot to end up.

You may remember I posted awhile back about A and I's friend that had IVF after two miscarriages. This morning God blessed them with two little heart flickers on the ultrasound screen. It is still very early and E is high risk because of the previous miscarriages, but right now things look good and the TWINS are expected on April 27th!! Most of our friends that are pregnant or have just had babies live in the South, so I'm so excited that Baby U will have two NYC babies to play with and I'll have another local Mom to compare notes with. God is good.

We also learned this week that my good friend Shelley is expecting a boy as well! She is due the week before me and our husbands played football together in high school. A and L are so excited they are going to have boys the same age! Another friend from my sorority alum group back in the South found out yesterday she is having a boy as well! The girl tide has turned and there is a sea of blue!!!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Labor Day. A and are heading tomorrow evening to Atlanta for the Alabama vs. Clemson game! It is our first time out of the city in almost two months and we are staying with my younger brother. My sister (who goes to UA) is also coming up and staying with us. I get to see lots of friends that are going to the game so it will be a fabulous weekend!! I'm so excited, I wish we were leaving tonight!

Ok a few random questions for the y'all (mom, aunts grandmas, etc):

1) I'm on the hunt for a baby book and not having a lot of luck. Any suggestions?

2) What is the BEST diaper bag on the market. I wanted the Pottery Barn Ultimate Diaper Bag in Chocolate Brown but they DISCONTINUED it and I just lost the bidding on ebay. Any other suggestions?

3) Anyone know where I can find a reasonably priced white iron crib?

That is such wonderful news about your friend, God is good!

Your family is in my prayers. My roomie left for the beach in a gustav area yesterday and I am so worried about her. Her sister will also be in ATL for the big game this weekend (she also goes to UA), perhaps your worlds will colide!

I always loved Petunia Pickle Bottom bags in my nanny days. The JJ Cole "Logic" is also good for short trips and isn't bulky.

Prayers for the twins... They are a real blessing (I have 2 yr old niece and nephew twins. Amazing!)

definitely will keep your family in my thoughts/prayers- my parents live in naples so I am always worried when I hear hurricaine talk. I am so happy for your friends, and kind of glad that not everyone seems to be having girls! We needed some boys in the mix!
I am also excited to see what people say about diaper bags because I am at a total loss.

i stumbled upon your blog a few days ago...congratulations on your pregnancy! I went thru about 5 diaper bags with 2 kids...you will continue to change your mind and needs. It is nice to start with something big in the beginning when you want to carry everything, and for travel. And it is nice to pick a simple, neutral style that your husband won't mind carrying when you're traveling. Then, as they get a bit older, you will want to pare it down to something more reasonable. i have a large, black Vera backpack that I have used recently, and it works well. i like the OiOi bags too.

Corsican makes beautiful iron cribs..classic, simple...and some that are a bit more ornate. But prices are a bit higher than "reasonable".

Hi, my mother in law has a white iron crib and its by Child Craft. It's not as pricey as the Corsican cribs. I think it's around $700.

I have had several diaper bags, but my favorite so far is actually not a diaper bag. It is the "Miller" bag from Vera Bradley. The inside has pockets all around it so its perfect to organize all your baby's items. It is a little big, but I always seem to go back to it over all my other ones.

Love reading your blog! I am expecting a baby girl in two weeks! I got my diaper bag from Dwell Studio- the Charlotte. I also like Vera Bradley diaper bags or Reese Li bags.
My friend got her iron crib from poshtots.com. Happy nesting!

Yes, prayers are in order for all. I haven't bought a diaper bag yet - yes, I will admit I'm still using the free one from the hospital! I have heard good things about Skip Hop and several of my friends carry Vera Bradley.

Have fun this weekend!

Please keep us updated on your parents. I am thinking of them this weekend.

Posh Tots has an iron crib in the $700 price range. Iron cribs are so pretty!

I hope you and your husband have a fun weekend!

I recently discovered your blog and love it! I live in Fairhope, work in Mobile so we are keeping a close eye on the storm and hoping for the best!
I love my baby book from Penny Laine Papers. Mine is pink but they make one for a boy. It has large blue, green and yellow polka dots on front with a square in the middle for a picture of the little one. The inside is very well thought out with places to put everything, even the family tree. Try www.bestdressedkids.com. I bought my iron crib (more off-white than true white) from jcpenny.com for $199!!!! This was two years ago so I don't know if they still carry them but it's worth a look.
Congrats on the baby boy and good luck with everyting.

I had a great baby book combination from C.R. Gibson that included a baby book as well as a baby calendar for the first year. The calendar was super easy to keep up with and had cute stickers for every milestone you could think of. Each month also had a little section of questions about that month that you could fill in. In the end, it turned out to be so much more fun to look at after his first year had gone by.

I'll be keeping your friends and family in my prayers. Have fun at the game!

I adore Timi & Leslie diaper bags. They're revamping their website, so you can't see the list of newest ones yet, but they're carried at Nordstrom.
