The Ultimate Blog Party

Hi y'all! Welcome to Magnolias, Marriage and Manhattan for all of you that have come over from The Ultimate Blog Party!

Welcome to my little space. Let's start with a drink:

If you're joining us in the morning a good bloody will do you:

The Best Bloody Mary
1. Fill a tall glass with ice.
2. Add 1 1/2-2 ounces of Absolut Vodka
3. Add 1 teaspoon of Worchestershire, 1/2 teaspoon of prepared horseradish, pinch of black pepper, dash of celery salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pickapepper sauce
4. Squeeze in juice of lemon wedge
5. Fill to top with Cmott's clamto juice or V8 veggie juice
6. Toss mixture in a shaker cup
7. Pour back in glass and garnish with celery stalk, olives, pickled beans/okra and a lime wedge.

YUMMY!

Joining us later in the day? How about a good Southern Drink? Try this one to get you ready for summertime..

The Bama Breeze
2 ounces of Absolut Citron Vodka
1 ounce of coconut rum
Juice of 1/2 fresh lime
2-3 ounces of Cranberry Juice
1/2 ounce of Simple Syrup
Lime Wedge

And some dip:

L.A Caviar

Since I'm a cheese dip lover and I can't get it in NYC we'll try this one:

Crazy Cheesy Queso Dip
1. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a heavy skillet. Add 1/2 sweet chopped onion and 1/2 chopped green and 1/2 chopped red bell pepper. Saute for 2 minutes until veggies are soft.
2. Add 1 4 ounce can of green chili peppers and good another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Cut 1 lb of white American cheese in to 1-inch cubes. Place cheese and 1 cup of whole milk in the top of a double broiler and melt over medium-high heat.
4. Add onion and bell pepper mixture. Mix thoroughly.
5. Add 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of coriander and 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper. Salt to taste and serve with tortila chips.

I'll also have some fresh oysters and fried crab claws for you to try. Want more of these good recipes buy the book here (it's Jimmy Buffet's sister) and her restaurant is one of my favorites in the South.

Now, for those of you are new let me introduce myself. You can call me MMM that is what they call me as I write this blog anonymously. I just celebrated my 1st blogiversary recently. I started this blog as an outlet for me during wedding planning (look to the right and scroll down to the tag section of "weddings" to see all of my wedding related posts or just click here).

I got married on June 30, 2007 and one week after my honeymoon we packed up our wedding presents and our golden retriever Daisy and moved from the deep South to NYC! The past few months have been exciting and they have been tough. I use my blog to talk about life as a newlywed away from my family and friends. Last year we were in the wedding stage and I talked a ton about weddings and wedding showers. This year we are in the baby stage (with TEN friends due in the upcoming months).

Besides my personal stories, I love to entertain so many of my posts are about the parties I am planning. I love paper products...invitations, stationary, calling cards, greeting cards, etc. I am obsessed with anything pink and green and I love all things preppy. I like to share my preppy shopping finds and I love a good discount. If you can monogram it---I either own it or I want it. I'm a Southern Belle to the core (I even wore an antebellum dress on the weekends in high school for a group I was a part of). I'm a Southern Sorority girl (Hello to all my KD sisters reading). I'm now a Junior League member too after just starting my first placement. I hope you enjoy checking out my blog and I hope you'll join us in the future!

Feel free to leave a comment and say hello!

Thanks for stopping by y'all.

Your blog is fun. I grew up in NYC but haven't lived there for over 15 years. I miss the food - bagels, pizza, Italian bread - I could go on.

Have fun at all the parties. Hope you stop by for a visit.

Thanks for stopping by for the party.... I've actually been reading your blog for awhile. I'm a transplant to the deep south from the Midwest. I've been here nearly 12 years, met my husband here and had our son here, so it feels a little like home after all this time.

Hi MMM,

Thank you for coming to my party. It's fun to meet someone else who loves a good wedding. If you get a chance, you should stop back by and check out my post on my wedding dress. I made it myself.

I'm not sure if my husband is ready for me to start planning our daughters' weddings. He's still getting used to the fact he'll have to pay for three! In fact, he's working on talking them into eloping. (Not if I can help it!)

Just a little tip from someone whose been there, don't forget to stop and smell the flowers on the way to your next phase in life. If you don't, you'll find you missed out on a lot in the process!

Have a great party. Thank you for inviting me!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I'm also a paper fanatic! On my last trip to Washington D.C. my daughter and I (it was a girls weekend away) spent OVER 2 HOURS (and way too much money) in a paper store in the Georgetown district. I bought the most amazing papers to create homemade invitations to a bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law. I punched several sizes of daisies from a translucent lavender paper that looked homemade, layering them on top of a square of very light green with white polka dot pattern and held it all together with a yellow eyelet. Very simple but I got tons of compliments; one lady said she thought it was so pretty she kept it on her dresser like a little piece of art :-)
[It had to be simple since I had to create almost 100 of them!]
Looked at some of your previous posts and sounds like you're a girl after my own heart! I love to throw parties, too, and am never happier than when planning everything down to the last detail. Right now my daughter and I are planning a bridal shower for a friend of hers; since it'll be in our hometown and daughter is away at college, I'll be doing a lot of the work. But I love it! Starting with a unique invitation that we can create together :-)

Lovely to meet you,
Thanks for stopping by Sweet Home Alabama and thanks for the drink- I needed one today, even if it's a little early! I am also a lover of all things pink and green and have decorated my little girl's room in these fabulous colors! Sounds like you have quite a journey over the last year! Best of luck to you and happy partying!

Love your blog!!! Congratulations on your marriage!!

I too love all things preppy. Lived by the Preppy Handbook. I love paper produts also. I have way too much stationary to count. I can't walk by it without buying. And wrapping paper, ribbon, gift bags, etc. I love pink and green. Just redid my daughter's bedroom in all pink and green polka dots from Neimans. Now I'm just trying to get her into monograms. She thinks she's too old for it now (bummer). Thanks for hosting a fabulous party.

Love the queso recipe. I am leaving the city and going home to Virginia this weekend and one of my stops will be mexican with queso. Cannot believe I haven't had it since I move up here SIX months ago! I really do miss the south.

Hi there! Working on my first blog, newly engaged, and new to NYC as well! Speaking of queso, have you tried the queso dip appetizer at Dos Caminos? It is absolutely sinful! I highly recommend it... Nice to meet you!
