Fall Back

I am so excited that y'all decided to come out of the woodwork and say hello. It really meant a lot to me. Sometimes I forget that all of you are actually reading what I write! My blog has served as a great outlet for me during the wedding planning, our move and now my MAJOR adjustment period to life in the city and as a new wife. I will be sure to add all of you to my blogroll that responded. I am excited to check out all of your blogs.

So...the weekend was okay. Thursday night we had a get together with my Junior League provisional group. I made rice crispy treats and pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. It was a lot of fun and I'm enjoying getting to know the girls in my group.

On Friday, I was REALLY homesick. I helped host a party with all of my KD pledge sisters on Friday night for one of our other pledge sisters and one of my best friends...but I wasn't there. I was kind of down all weekend because I wanted to be there with all of my girls. =( Mix in a little PMS and there were a lot of tears. My sweet husband put up with me and even agreed to try another Mexican place (BAD idea) on Friday night. I don't understand why with all the great food up here there are not ANY decent Mexican places.

On Saturday, we watched football and cleaned the apartment. I don't know how Daisy has any fur left on her because there were "small dogs" as we call them in every corner. I can't keep up with her! Our beloved Tide had a tough loss on Saturday night. My parents and sister were at the game...so I was wishing I was there too...but not after the outcome! Sunday was fun and relaxing. My husband and I woke up early and I made pancakes, then we watched the NYC Marathon out our window. We went out on the street to watch the top ladies and top men. I missed seeing Katie Holmes and Lance Armstrong but I was inspired by the thousands of runners I did see. What a major accomplishment!

Great news...one of my best friends is pregnant! This is my first really close friend to be pregnant and I'm so excited for her. It's also a very strange feeling because even though I have other friends that are pregnant or have little ones, this is my first really, really close friend. This is my friend that was my going out buddy in college and after college. It's so crazy that she'll have a baby in a few months. She got married this past March and she is due the middle of May. I wish I could be there to give her a big hug and be with her during this journey. I have to figure out how to be a good friend during her pregnancy via the distance. Any suggestions?

I did some major online searching for dresses to wear to the above mentioned friend's wedding which is the beginning of December in Louisiana. I'll need a rehearsal dinner dress, Friday luncheon dress, Saturday luncheon dress and a dress for actual wedding. Here are a few that I'm considering

My husband is a huge LSU fan and there was a ton of cursing up in here until the end. I frankly do NOT get the LSU fans utter hatred of Saban now. Uh, he led y'all to a championship, yes? Dude, it's his JOB. Let it go.

Hubs may have called me a traitorous Judas. LOLOL

Noticed you haven't found any good Mexican restaurants in the city. Have you not tried Rosa Mexicana?? I think they have 2 locations now. The best margaritas and guacamole! Let me know.

We've done Rosa a few times. It is def the best by far...I love the pomegranate marg and guac. But, it still doesn't live up to La Paz in Bham or Taqaria in Atl. Where's the cheese dip??

I agree with your favorites - I love the lace BCBG at Saks and you can tell from my last post that I love the Lilly Sienna dress as well! I enjoyed looking at all your choices.

I forgot to say the first time - pumpkin chocolate chip muffins? YUM!! Care to share your recipe?

How about getting your friend a subscription to a baby/parenting magazine? Or send her the most recent copy of the book Baby Bargains. I remember that book being like a bible the first time around.

Cute stuff! I have the Lilly dress and love it... I'm wearing it for my engagement pics. I also have the Eliza J lace dress and wore it on New Year's Eve.

I really like the green dress, but the BCBG lace is great. My sister has it in another color and it looks amazing.

Okay, I really love the green Nicole Miller and I think the black lace Ann Taylor would flatter anyone!

I'm dying to know what part of LA (my home state)? This is my first year as a Northerner too! I'm so sick of people giving me grief about my (not so-bad) southern accent! Anyway, I can relate to your trials and tribulations and I love your blog!

Oh I get homesick sometimes. For New York, or North Carolina or just sorority days in general!!!

You have some really good dress choices! I think the BCBG lace dress from Saks is gorgeous, and would look beautiful for the wedding. For the other events, my favorites are the Ann Taylor Karen dress (sort of a bronze color), the Lilly Sienna, or the Nordstrom Eliza lace. The only one I wasn't sure about was the gold one from Macys; it is hard to tell the quality of the fabric from the picture on that one. Do you know what I mean? In any event, I look forward to seeing what you choose.

Love all your choices, but now am obsessed with the black Eliza J dress. Must have, it is such a classic, cute dress!

Thanks for sharing.

Melissa, I'll post the recipe for you. It's at home...

Tales of a Southern Belle...the wedding is in Baton Rouge, LA.

Ali, cheese dip is served like guac is up here. We have guac too, but most people always order cheese dip. My favorite kind is the white mexican cheese. Some places put peppers in it. It is oh so yummy! I like mine not too runny and not too think just like at La Paz in ATL and BHM and Taquria in ATL.

Def try Rosa Mexicano's and Dos Caminos, two of my faves!

For dresses, check out edressme.com, they have adorable stuff, I especially love their Shoshanna pieces

MMM-

Welcome to the city--I've been reading a while but I'm coming out of the woodwork to tell you try Mary Ann's. I'm downtown, so I go to the location on 2nd Ave and 5th St, but they do have other locations. It's not going to be EXACTLY what you want, but it's totally not Nuevo Latino like Dos Caminos or even Rosa Mexicano.
