Baby Gift Recomendations for a New NYC Mommy

A reader recently emailed me to get baby gift recommendations for her UES Aunt. I thought I would share in case anyone else needed these recommendations!

Hi S,

Thanks for writing! As for classic keepsakes, there are so many different options. Not sure what kind of price range you are looking for, but you could do everything from a monogrammed Tiffany rattle, to a silver baby cup with initials, to a monogrammed brush set, to a monogrammed linen pillow. There are so many great keepsake options.

If you go the gift certificate route, my favorite local UES stores are:

Giggle (kinda like a trendy babies r us)
Planet Kids (kinda like a local babies r us)
Magic Windows (smocked and beautiful clothes, also carry my favorite Kissy Kissy pjs)

You could shop online and pick something out yourself or just send a gift certificate. I think either one would be most appreciated!

I think another great idea would be to give a gift certificate for "a night out" to dinner to a local restaurant. If you like this idea, I can send you a few suggestions in whatever price range you want.

Or, you could do a gift certificate to Fresh Direct. That is always appreciated!

When I had J, my friends from out of town sent us dinner each night via seamless web. It was so amazing to not have to worry about dinner for an entire week!
Hope this helps!

Such fun stuff! I haven't blogged since I was trying to keep my big secret and now I can't seem to find the time because my big secret was that I was expecting. Now, we have a 3 month old! I've revisited old posts from when you were pregnant with and first had J time and time again.

I've got a store credit at Magic Windows in Charlotte. I didn't realize that there was more than one, but followed your link and was surprised to see there only two stores are in NY and Charlotte. Now I'm even mor excited to make my way back home to pick something out for our little Monroe.

By the way, I have a question for you, maybe it's more appropriate via e-mail, but has J run pretty true to size with his clothes? Monroe is still pretty petite. At 15 weeks he is still wearing 0-3 months and I'm just now having to pull some of his newborn clothes from the drawers to be packed away. We're not quite to 3-6 months yet. He was 7 lbs 13 oz when he was born, but just isn't packing on pounds yet. I found some great sales at boutiques around town and wanted to buy in advance for next summer, but didn't know what size to get. Fortunately, we have a pretty long warm season in NC.
