My First Month as a Mommy

My Little Yellow Duckie

His Valentine's Outfit

Well y'all! I survived my first month as a Mommy! Baby J is doing great. I thought I would give you a quick update on how things are going. As you may have noticed my posts have become less frequent. It is amazing that a little tiny person can control every minute of your day. We had his one month check up last Tuesday and Baby J now weighs in at 8 1/2 lbs. We just moved him up to Size 1 diapers even thought they are a little big--he's growing up so fast!

I have been enjoying all of our bonding time together. I'm breastfeeding so there is A LOT of bonding time! Speaking of breastfeeding, thank you so much for all of your tips and encouragement. You really do have to be committed to doing this and it is nice to have a cheering section! I did end up giving J a pacifier...not sure why I was worried. I also bought a pump and have started pumping so that A can give J a bottle when I need a break during one of the late night feedings.

We had an all nighter last night, so I'm nice and exhausted today. I've only had a max of five hours straight of sleep (just once) since he was born! Yikes! I'm not sure if last night it was a growth spurt or tummy issues. J does have reflux so we have medicine now for him to help a little with that. He is so precious though and I spend so much time just staring at his sweet little face. I can't give him enough kisses. I truly am enjoying each and every moment.

J LOVES his swing, his bouncy seat, his mobile and warm baths. He loves to be held and he always falls asleep while he's eating. His favorite spot to nap is his car seat. He HATES having his diaper changed and his hair washed.

I know there are a lot of moms-to-be out there so please feel free to leave a comment here with questions about labor and delivery, bringing home the baby, gear you need, gear you can't live without etc. I'm no expert--but I have just been there so maybe I can help!

MMM- he is beautiful. That last pic is my fave so far! Have you been out and about with him much (besides the doctor's office?)? How's the stroller?

He is too cute. I can't get over it. I'm not sure what it is about him. He is so tiny, but still looks so mature. he's just precious.

We have officially started "trying". Did you all have to try very long before you got pregnant with baby J? I thought I would be super relaxed about it and just let it be a surprise, but sure enough, I'm not. I'm not tense or anything, but I am looking up my ovulation dates, etc...which I didn't think I'd do. I think it makes sense though..it's a pretty big part of life, I don't want it to just sneak up on me.

It's so fun to have so many bloggy friends going through the same life stages together...a lot of the wedding belles of summer 2007 are not doing the mommy thing too.

Has "in the life of 5 year olds" had her baby yet? I missed the point when she was going private and never got to request an invite.

Sorry for such a long comment. I just think J is too cute!

Is it possible that he is getting cuter every time I see him? Q always falls asleep when we are feeding him. And I have learned more about breastfeeding and pumping and bottles in a week then I could ever imagine. You would have gotten a kick out of me and my bro at Babies R Us buying a new type of bottle for Q the other day (apparently these bottles mimic breastfeeding or something like that...I was just the delivery gal - not the lactation consultant!) I can't wait for the boys to be big enough to have play dates! Q wore his "hunk a burnin love" onesie the other day - that one cracks me up. xox

What a sweet little boy! As someone who's due in 8 weeks, I'd love to hear your thoughts on packing a hospital bag and on your stroller research! I just ordered the Bugaboo Chameleon and am wondering if I made the right choice? Thanks so much!
