Tell us how you've come to have an attitude of gratitude: I think I experience more gratitude than I ever have before in my life. Each time I look into those little blue eyes of my baby boy I just thank God that he gave me this precious son of mine and I thank him for giving us his Son. On a lighter note, I feel gratitude when my husband helps out around the house or does a simple task with the baby. I feel gratitude when someone holds the door open for me. Ladies, when you see a pregnant woman or someone with a stroller...show a little love! I feel gratitude in so many small and large ways. I know each day I can strive to be more grateful for all the wonderful things I have in my life.

It's Navy Blue Today

Last night I met up with my Junior League placement and we went to Rosa Mexicano! It was a blast and I'm making some great new friends. My friend K is coming to visit this weekend and I CAN'T wait. K just had a baby girl about 2 months ago and her MIL told her to take a break for the weekend. She deserves it and I can't wait to catch up with her this weekend!

One of my NYC blogger friends, Mmmm...Tastes Good, bestowed the Bloggy Goodness Award on me. I finally get to meet her in real life next week. Check out her blog for some fab recipes. I'm not really sure what the rules of this one are so I'm just going to give it away to 7 of you.

1) Love, Life and Labs
Happy 3rd Anniversary!

2) Mrs. Preppy
She's my long lost friend I'm pretty sure. Wish she was in NYC so we could complain about our pregnancy problems together. =)

3) Grove Gals-
Sent me the most precious things for Daisy. I'm going to post pics soon with a proper thank you post!
4) Jenna's Journey
One of my fellow pregnant ladies!

5) My Inner Seamstress
Mel is saving the day with Monkey (see below.)

6) Puttin on the Grits
She's pure Southern goodness. I wish she and Country would hop on a plane and come visit me in NYC!

7) Baby Belle in the Big City
My real life friend who is having some serious boy problems. Hang in there Belle at least we have the Tide! Repeat after me--two tigers down, one more to go. RTR!

The weather in NYC has been chilly as of lately. I had to retire my long black coat this week when button number 3 didn't quite button across the growing belly. The split in the back of the jacket was apparently giving a full view of my growing behind. My friend A loaned me her Land's End maternity puffy coat and that fits much better! My only problem with the puffy coat is I just look really fat in it. Last night no one could tell I was pg on the subway and for the 1st time in a few months no one got up to give me their seat. They just thought I was a fat girl. Tear. Would it be wrong to unzip my jacket and stick my belly out so I can get a subway seat? Ha, Ha! My maternity wardrobe has done well so far, but the panel on my Pea in the Pod pants is now making a mark on my belly...not a good sign when I have 3 months to go! I also need to find a few maternity sweaters to keep me warm in the upcoming months.

I need some good winter shoes. Any suggestions? I normally just wear flats (BC Babycakes in one of 3 colors or my TB Revas in one of 2 colors), but I absolutely hate the look of socks with flats, but my toes are cold so I would love to find something cute where the sock with the shoe isn't offensive. I wear my Uggs when it is really cold or my Hunters when it is raining or snowing, but I need an everyday comfy cute shoe for my daily walk to work.

Speaking of my daily walk, I stopped into Starbucks yesterday and had my first gingersnap latte (formally the gingerbread latte--not sure what's up with the name change.) Has anyone signed up for the gold rewards card? I feel like I need one, but I'm not sure if it is worth it.

Great news!! Although our Monkey is still being held hostage by a mean lady somewhere in the DC area, one my fellow Monkey hostesses has offered up her sweet Monkey, Carolina, to complete Monkey's journey across the United States. Hostesses that have not received Monkey yet have the option of Carolina coming to visit them. What a wonderful person Melanie is! Click here if you want to read up on all that has been happening or join the fun in hosting Monkey.

They were filming this movie in my hood this past weekend. Too bad I didn't see anyone famous! Not sure how the UES ties into the movie?

I know you were wondering about the bow doc, she is wearing a navy blue (rather short) suit and a navy blue bow today. I would love to take a pic, but I would love to stay at my job even more. =)

Have you signed up for my giveaway yet? You can win a cute 2009 Donovan Designs Calendar! I'm giving away 5 of them from The Paper Cafe! You have until Friday so get to it! Click here for the rules and to post a comment.

Monday Ramblings

Happy Monday! Did y'all have a good weekend? We did. I ate dinner here with my Aunt and Uncle on Friday. The game was AMAZING. We barely pulled it off, but the Tide is still #1 and we clinched the SEC West Title and we will meet Florida in the SEC Championship in Atlanta on December 6th. The thought of playing Florida makes baby U do little flips in my tummy. We still have to play MS State this Saturday and Auburn Thanksgiving weekend and I don't take either team lightly. However...two tigers down--one more to go!! RTR!

One of my very favorite stationery designers is The Paper Menu. I have their flat note cards, their calling cards, their baby flat note cards, I've picked their invites for countless invitations---and guess who just jumped on The Paper Menu bandwagon---OPRAH! Marie's creation of personalized gift wrap is featured in O Magazine. Now, we'll forget about the part where I posted about this gift wrap this last year. Ha, Ha. Congrats Marie! So excited for you! When Oprah notices you, you've hit the big time! Remember us when you are famous. I'm still waiting on that Alabama Stationery line...

I have a few questions for YOU:

1) What kind of trash can do you have? I am in the market for a nicer trash can with a lid. I was going to get a diaper champ (they use regular trash bags so you don't have to buy special ones) in addition to our regular trash can, but it really just does not make sense. Most of my friends in NYC and those in the South with small homes say they do not get the diaper champ/genie and just take the trash out as needed. I truly do not have room for both. I take our trash out everyday (I just have to bring it to a room right next to our apt) and our current trash can is actually in our "nursery" since it is pretty much connected to our kitchen. (Got to love NYC livin') Anyways, what's your trash can recommendation? These are a few that I'm looking at: this one, this one, this one or this one.

2) If you have a baby--what crib mattress did you buy? There are options from $50-$500. My inclination is to just pick one in the middle range like this one or this one or this one? What did you do? Thoughts?

Kreativ Blogger Award

I am so honored to have received this award from three fabulous bloggers--Well I Do Declare, Granny Smith Green, and Some Like it Southern. The rule is that I have to list 6 things that make me happy, so here we go:

1) The fall weather in NYC. My walk to work via Madison Avenue is so beautiful. I love seeing all the kids in their precious uniforms. I love my stop at Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I love passing by the fall flowers and pumpkins at the little stands. I love seeing the leaves change and people's new fall threads. I love the displays in the windows. It's a happy part of my day.

2) I love the little kicks from my precious baby boy. They remind me he is growing and doing well. It makes me the happiest though when A can feel a good hard kick. I love to see his smile and how excited he gets. It's an amazing experience.

3) I love getting mail. I love to see a handwritten envelope that promises a pretty invitation inside or a birth announcement from one of my friends. I also love to see the new catalogs for each season. I get especially happy when there is a package--a surprise from a friend, a great ebay find, or just something I've ordered! Checking the mail makes me quite happy!

4) SEC Football. I love it. I love the Tide, but I also love to watch all the other games. My husband bought us ESPN Gameplan and now we don't miss a single game. We go to the Alabama Alum bar some Saturdays. I love tailgating and wish there was more of it in NYC. I look forward to going to Bryant Denny NEXT weekend! Roll Tide Roll! 7-0, but we have a few big ones to go! =)

5) Correspondence. Being far away from family and friends has been one of the biggest struggles with my time in NYC. If it were not for my cell phone and my computer I would not be happy. But, logging in to my email and seeing a familiar name pop up makes my day. I call my Mom everyday on my walk home from work. Our daily phone calls are one of the best parts of my day. I also love handwritten cards (see #3). I try to write them to friends and family as often as possible because I know how happy they make me.

6) My preppy puppy Daisy. Y'all know how much I love my Dog. She is truly woman's best friend. She comforts me during my pregnancy cries. She puts her head on my belly when I'm on the sofa (pretty sure she knows something is up). I love when she gets frisky and bucks like a bronco with one of her toys in her mouth. I love when she brings me her squeaky squirrel or her huge pink/green bone that Auntie Lisagh made her. I love to watch her curl up in a tiny ball and sleep. She is my first baby and she has brought so much joy to my life. I could not have made it in NYC without her. I can't wait to see her rolling on the floor with my baby boy. They are going to love each other!

I would like to bestow the award on these 6 blogs:

1) The Preppy Wedding--What preppy bride doesn't love this blog? Besides being such a sweet girl, Jenn has amazing ideas and is oh so Kreativ! I had the opportunity to meet her this past year and she is just as cool in person! Let's do it again soon!

2) Molly's Mom--I love finding a blog friend that shares my love in great online finds! I have not been reading this blog for very long and it has quickly become one of my favorites to check.

3) A Dozen Eggs's Cookie Crumbs Blog--This lady can make anything out of a sugar cookie. It looks sweet and tastes like heaven. She is quite Kreativ!

4) Short Pump Preppy--She makes me laugh everyday and oh I do love her photo shop abilities.

5) One Fabulous Mom-Her posts are so well thought out and creative. I mean she took us to Greece on a bloggy vacation, can you get any more Kreativ?

6) She Walks in Beauty--Her posts are absolutely beautiful and I still (almost 1.5 years after my wedding) look forward to seeing her picks.
