Baby J wore a gown that was from the late 1800s. I believe it was her great grandmother's. It was lost for a few years and then her mother found it and A was the first to be baptised in it. Since then his sister was baptised in it, along with 3 cousins (one of which is Baby J's Godfather.) My Mom has the gown that my brother and sister and I were baptised in, but there was just too much tradition in this gown not to use it...not to mention it is fabulous! =) I was scared to death that my child would be the one to spit up all over it, but he did great. He was an angel during the ceremony and did not make a peep. It really was a perfect day.

love the gown, and love the tradition behind it. I have an embroidery business and I have done a lot of baptism gowns that have been worn by many, and it is great to have it the slip embroidered with each childs name and the baptism date. I did one once that 1o children had used the gown and we were on the second time around on the slip. I think it makes the gown even more sentimental and maybe when Baby J is married it would be awesome for his child to use the gown and see his daddy name on the same gown.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought!! Great pictures and love the idea of using all the children's cups on the table.
by the way, these gowns were embroidered white on white.
