The Perfect Cake Quest

Ok, y'all I'm heading home in a little bit to get ready for one of my very best friend's weddings. She is getting married in my hometown on Saturday and it is going to be a wonderful weekend. I am driving home this afternoon so that I can do some of my own wedding planning tomorrow. I'm meeting with my florist tomorrow. I've decided my flowers for decor will include pink and green and white hydrangeas, pink and white roses, stargazer lilies, and a few others that I can't spell. =) I'm pretty sure my bouquet is going to be pink peonies and lilies of the valley. You know you stare at pictures and you stare at pictures and then you have to decide! I've been looking at magazines for so long it is hard to tell the florists...okay this is exactly what I want. I like all of it! I need your help on the cake. Here are a small (ha, ha) assortment of my pictures. Can you see what I'm going for? I want hydrangeas, monogram, ribbon, and maybe a very pale pink cake. I can't have all of that...or can I? They told me I'll need at least 4 layers based on the number of people. I want buttercream icing and not fondant. Please blog world, help me narrow it down. Based on these pics can you describe my perfect cake to me?

Pretty hydrangeas, would want them pink or green or white. Hmmm. Don't like the square shape.
A pink cake with white dots. Not a fan of the flowers on this one. Love, love, love the light pink color. I really think I want a pink cake.
Here is a pink cake with pink dots. Hmmm. Not a fan of the roses on top. If feels like it is missing something.
This was a friend of mines cake. Love it!
This one is my main inspiration, but I would want it with pink. Could I do a script monogram?
Love the color of the roses, but want that color hydrangeas.
I don't like the top, but I like the ribbon (I want mine lighter) and the design on the cake.
I love this color ribbon and the swiss dots. Hate the top.
LOVE the pink color. Not a fan of the topper. I really like this cake though. Where would I put the flowers.
Love the single monogram and the pink ribbon. I would rather the cake not be so smooth.

I like the hydrangeas in this one, but it kind of looks heavy.
Love the pink ribbon on this one, not a fan of the ribbon on top. The shape is kinda cool, but I think I want to stick with round.
Like the flower/ribbon look, but not the green ribbon on this one Love the monogram plate on this one and the swiss dots. Not a fan of the icing bow.
Love the green hydrangeas on this one, but top looks funny. The cake is really thin too.

Wedding Outfits!

I'm not sure which party I'm going to wear it to, but I found this cute BCBG dress (above)during my lunch hour yesterday and decided to add it to the "wedding collection." I like it better without the straps. Now I need a good new pair of black sandals. Any ideas? I also need to figure out where I can add some pink? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I've got my eye on this dress (above) and this dress for possible rehearsal dinner dresses. I would really like to find a pink dress for my rehearsal dinner, but a green one would be the second best option. What do you think about this pink dress(below)? Is it too young looking (keep in mind I'm a pink and green bride OBSESSED with pink)? Thoughts...

I Love Billy

I love Billy Joel. I have regular Billy Joel sing-a-longs in my car on long drives. I saw Moving Out on Broadway and it just increased my love for Billy. It has been a long time dream of mine to see him in concert and this week that dream is coming true, my little sister and I are going to see him in concert. I recently received an email with a sample of his newest song that he wrote for his new wife, Katie Lee, on their first anniversary. It is a really sweet song and thought I would share it with you. This is Billy's first new single in over 13 years! Enjoy!

Elle Alexandra Stationary

One of my bridesmaids gave me a set of note cards from Elle Alexandra for an engagement gift. I have really enjoyed using the beautiful bride note cards (4th one down.) If you are looking for a a very thoughtful engagement gift I thought I would share. I also included a few other note cards from the website that I like.
In other news...my weekend was very relaxing. I am feeling much better today and very excited about the week ahead. One of my very best friends is getting married on Saturday, so I'm back to parent's house on Wednesday evening. Yes, I'm tearing up the roads and I'm going to need a few more audio books for my ipod! Any suggestions? I finished The Sweet Potato's Guide to Wedding Planning and Divorce (I did not like the divorce part of the book, but the wedding planning part was really funny) on the way home from seeing my fiance yesterday afternoon. I'm meeting with my florist and wedding coordinator on Thursday and I am going to try to get as much done on my wedding plans as I can on Thursday. Then, we have the Bridesmaid Luncheon and Rehearsal Dinner on Friday. Friday is also my fiance's birthday, so I have to make sure he has a special day in the midst of wedding weekend mania. I got him a great gift that I am hoping he will love (I'll have to share later, just in case.) Today the heating and air people are coming out to my house to make sure the house is cooling properly and then I get the inspection report and requests by tomorrow. Fingers still crossed!

Spring at Williams Sonoma

Here are a few great spring items I noticed this morning at Williams Sonoma while sitting on the couch recovering from tonsillitis. Click on the pictures for the direct links and prices! I love, love the wreath the most and actually might buy it to use at my wedding since it may be cheaper than buying real peonies in June and I could use it again every spring. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I'm relaxing now as my fiance is cooking me a yummy breakfast and taking top notch care of his patient! So sweet!

Everyday Dinnerware--Vietri Incanto

Hi everyone! I just got back from the ENT doc. I have had a nasty sore throat all week and since I just got over strep throat three weeks ago, I decided it was time to put an end to this. The doc said I had a tonsil infection and might need to get my tonsils out! Oh, sure ...we can do that between dress fittings and house closings! Ahhh! She gave me a steroid shot in the bum (ouch) and another round of antibiotics. Hopefully this will clear me up once and for all. In other news, I heard from my realtor that the inspection went pretty well. I should know more on Monday. (insert sigh of relief) I'm heading to see my fiance this weekend so hopefully I'll get lots of rest and be feeling as good as new on Monday.

I wanted to leave you with pics of our Everyday Dinnerware. We chose (ok, I chose), Vietri Incanto . I know it is very popular right now and kind of trendy, but I just fell in love with it. I am doing the stripe dinner plate, the lace salad plate and the stripe footed bowl. I love the mugs and canape plates that come in every pattern. The serving pieces are also in all of the different patterns. What do you think?

Engagement Party Oufit Options

Mrs. P over at one of my favorite blogs, Chic, has been working hard to make sure I have the perfect outfit for my upcoming engagement party in March. I live in the South, so the weather is either going to be in the 30's or the 70's and on some days it will change 40 degrees during the course of one day. The party is at the owner of my company's house (he introduced me to my fiance) and is hosted by my future in-laws' friends. The attire is "dressy casual," but I really would like to wear a dress. The bride gets to stand out a little...right? =) I just found out last night they are catering in Mexican (my favorite)! My favorite color is pink, so Mrs. P did a great job of incorporating a little touch of pink in all of my outfits. Which one should I chose? Thanks again Mrs. P! Check out her blog, Chic, for all the details on the outfits.

In other life news, today is I-day (my fiance's name for Inspection Day.) I am so nervous that I definitely do not feel like working today. I will not know anything until Monday, but I really hope that everything goes okay and the guy does not find thousands of dollars of stuff wrong with my house. Yikes! I'm going back to thinking about cute outfits to keep my mind off of some random man going through my house looking for things wrong. Wish me luck!

Paper Buzz is having a great sale on their holiday items. If you can think that far ahead it would be a great time to order your Christmas cards. I want to do a wedding pic for our 1st Christmas card next year...kind of cheesy...but here are a few of my favorite cards.
